OMG WHAT A FIND!!!! 34 Stamps for $1.55

34 mounted rubber stamps for $1.55 at Goodwill.  Some never used!  :D  OMG WHAT A FIND
And yes, I bought the frog for $1 too!  :D  LOL

$1 find at another Goodwill - Original 1972 Waterworks game!

Some of the cards... I soooo have some ideas for these!  :D
Okay, so I found the deal of the century on the bag of stamps!  Not likely to ever have that happen again but WOW... Some good ones in there too!  :D

Thrift store find - future project!

Large Jewelry box found at thrift store for $5
Only one piece missing on the bottom trim.

Inside of the top... glass in doors behind lattice is good!
Middle section needs some repair but the glass and mirror are good!
Bottom is in great shape, all those little handles are metal.

So this is one of the things I found when I visited the local Goodwill for only $5.  It is going to be a future project to refurbish.  It will take some time and I will have to replace the trim around the bottom because I doubt I can find a match.  There is also a little need of repair for the center as well.  The hard part is going to be disassembling the doors so that I can properly paint the lattice.  And then getting the paint off the metal drawer handles.  (I am thinking of doing a grunge type look on those so some of it not coming off wont' be too bad a thing!)  It is really a large piece and I am hoping to have it looking pretty spiffy when I'm done!  :D

Baby woodpecker nest rescued!

Baby Woodpecker butt

Baby woodpecker head

This morning I decided to tackle fallin branches and get them all cut down and piled up so that we could make a trip to the landfill mulching pile.  Well, in the process I decided to unwedge a branch that fell some time back and got caught up in a tree on the way down, as I was pulling it over into the yard to cut into pieces I found that it was a home for a woodpecker nest and had 3 little baby birds in it, alive and hungry.   Soon after I saw mom pirched on a branch looking at me intently.  SO.... I cut the long end off and wedged the branch back up in the tree, unfortunately a few feet lower than it was originally.  I sure hope momma bird comes back and feeds them.  I never touched the babies or even close to the opening of the whole.  I really hope she hears them crying and comes back to feed and care for them.  Here are some pictures I took during the process.

Time and Video length

Time, a precious commodity to all of us.  Something that for some is more precious than others.  We all have responsibilities that require our time and attention and then we all would like to spend some time doing the things we enjoy!

Today I want to address how I have found my time seems to be vanishing faster these days.  I spend a fair amount of time keeping up with the creative community on YouTube, ning sites and blogs and even Ustream now (if I have the "time").  My subscriptions have grown and I enjoy every minute of each creative juicy moment.  Unfortunately the videos have become longer and longer.  I have about 200 different YT channels that I am subscribed to (a lot of which do not post regularly or at all anymore so I am unsubscribing to some of them) however, those that do post I like to watch.

Back when videos were 5 to 10 minutes long it was still challenging sometimes to keep up with all those I like, but now people are uploading videos that are 15 to 20 or more minutes long.  This makes it impossible to keep up with and in turn I miss some really good stuff because I end up "skimming" the video or skipping it all together.   I can't imagine what it must be like for those who have full time jobs and families to find the time to keep up with all the creative talent out there.

I personally make it a goal to keep my videos under 10 minutes... no matter what because I want people to feel like they have the time to watch them.  I spend a little time editing and "speeding up" my videos for that reason, or fading from one point to the next.

I LOVE to watch the process of creation, but in real time it can be too much.  Sometimes bits and pieces need to be shown in real time, that's understandable, but watching, in real time, someone paint six sides of a box all black, then cover six sides of the box with the same paper, then distress each side the same etc, takes up a lot of view time in the video.  I would love to see more people show the creative process but using some "fast forward" and fading to keep the videos at a length that we can all enjoy.

People with full lives become quite intimidated by videos that are long because they want to support the artist and they want to watch the video but life and TIME just doesn't permit it.  I think more people will start "skimming" the videos instead of watching and that takes from why we post them in the first place.

Anyone else got any thoughts on this?   I would LOVE to hear your input!  :D

Look what I found at the Dollar Tree.   One of my all time
favorite characters from Disney and my childhood!  I'm
gonna get my crayons out now!  :D

Spent the day getting things done and now its time to just
relax (after cooking dinner that is!)

Monday Migraine ...

Today was a migraine day ... full of laundry and chores that didn't get done.
Then spent time trying to fix the connection issues with my cell phone...  in the six hours my cell phone was off the charger it drained the battery trying to find and keep a connection to the tower.  95% of the time it was without signal.  SO, that caused me to not receive a call.... until much much later in the day and well it was a job offer.  WAS... so I put in a major complaint to Tmobile and will continue to do so as long as I continue to have these problems. Okay that was my rant for the day.  I'm going to go watch some YT videos and maybe doodle in my doodle journal.     (attached image snagged from a website about migraines.... for anyone who is interested --> http://www.healthjockey.com/2008/09/18/people-with-migraine-face-higher-risks-of-blood-clots/)

Plastic bottle flowers

This is what happens when a creative mind gets triggered by a neat idea and video:

The video is about making beads with plastic bottles:  Which is what is in the little container at the bottom of the picture.  Here is the video from thefrugalcrafterhttp://youtu.be/YZdi9VDCzs0 that triggered my creative explosion.  My husband was a bit confused when he walked in...this is not my usual medium.  Hahaha

A few things...

So... yesterday we lost power for about 7 hours... while I waited I hung out in my craft studio (happens to be the brightest room in the house) opened the windows and kept myself busy getting somethings in order.  Like the box of CD cases that I got from a friend of mine, now ready to store cling stamps in!  :D

Then today ... had to go get crickets for my firebelly frogs and stopped off at the Dollar Tree and found these  for only $1 each... wish I could have gotten more!  :D
